LEARN takes the lead on the delivery of creative music education opportunities for disabled young people and young people with additional support needs in Scotland.
We believe that every young person in Scotland has the right to learn music.
Young people tell us that playing music gives them confidence and self-esteem, communication and social skills, fun and friendship.
Our LEARN programme offers:
- All Join In, a creative music learning programme that provides progressive learning and performance opportunities
- Pathways for the transitional age group (18-25) to further learning through our Digital Orchestra: Youth programme and connecting to DMS Create with ongoing opportunities for those identifying as creative artists
- Our International Figurenotes export of award winning resources and training
- Bespoke training opportunities and support for teachers in our Inclusive Music Skills Development programme
We lead on the development of inclusive music learning resources for technologies and Figurenotes and work with the wider music education sector to address lack of inclusion and increase the visibility and active involvement of young disabled musicians.
Disabled music leaders play a key part in the delivery and creation of our work.
